With Halloween just around the corner, and the Day of the Dead among us, Jorge Gutierrez's Border Bang artwork is the perfect way to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. Huntington Beach restaurant, 2nd Floor, will be hosting Jose Gutierrez's artwork, and we worked with him to provide his prints on wood! According to an interview Gutierrez did with The Los Angeles Times, Gutierrez got his inspiration from the Tijuana border, as he saw "Bootleg products of all kinds like piñatas, towels, ceramic banks, shirts, wooden toys with characters and people from all branches of popular culture from both sides of the border. You could see Zapata next to Elvis next to Godzilla next to Batman, Magic Johnson, Pancho Villa and Bart Sanchez." The imagery on these prints bring out the mix he speaks of that's concocted from both sides of the border! Gutierrez is also known for his film "The Book of Life" which will be shown at the Huntington Beach Arts Center on Saturday, October 29th from noon to 4pm, and he'll discuss the film afterwards as well.
