Monster Media

Derric, the owner of Monster Media Inc, comes into the office a few weeks back saying “I got an idea!” which usually just means he thought up his “project of the week” and wants me, the designer, to get right on it. However, this time his idea was a little different than the normal “design” job he normally concocts up. Derric had this crazy notion that we could make custom cut furniture using just a 4′x8′ piece of wood and our large format CNC router. The crazy thing is that as of today that idea has actually come to fruition. With the help of Chris Aultman, the pilot from Animal Planet’s Whale Wars (I know, random right?) and my adobe illustrator skills we were able to cut out a simple 2-D shape design that when put together actually creates a 3-D piece of furniture. The piece isn’t done yet so this is a work in progress. We are still deciding on the final configuration and we of course plan on printing on it with our digital flatbed printer so stay tuned for more on this adventure.
